Dr Emma Amoafo Mensah, MBBS BSc MRCP.

In our never-ending quest to offer the very best in science-based skincare and treatments, Dr. Emma Amoafo-Mensah has joined Dēpology's Board of Skincare Experts to help us spread the skincare knowledge from a professional standpoint.

Here we speak to Dr. Emma Amoafo-Mensah who is a Doctor & Dermatology Registrar based in the UK.

When did your passion for Dermatology start?

Dr. Amoafo-Mensah: When I was in my second year of being a doctor, I did a 4-month post in dermatology and I loved it! I decided to specialise in dermatology following that, and focused on taking my career in that direction.

I love the variety – I see adults and children, I do surgery and medicine, I treat cancer and inflammation – no two days are the same!

What makes Dēpology an important addition to Skincare Routines?

Dr. Amoafo-Mensah: I love the direction skincare has taken now, because people can easily research for themselves what ingredients they should incorporate into their skincare routine to achieve their individual skincare goals.

Dēpology focuses on ingredients that are effective, and that’s why I’m a fan of the brand. It’s clear for all to see which ingredients are in each product, so you can formulate your own routine to get the results you want.

What is your favourite Dēpology product and which product are you most likely to recommend to your clientele?

Dr. Amoafo-Mensah: I’m currently loving the night time retinol cream. A retinol or retinoid should be incorporated into many of our skincare routines for its anti-ageing, and anti-hyperpigmentation effects.

From your expert opinion, why is Dēpology different?

Dr. Amoafo-Mensah: Dēpology is based on ingredients that we have the science to support, such as niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, to name a few.

They’ve also used innovative techniques to formulate their products, which really makes them stand out

As a Dermatologist, what does your daily skincare routine look like? and is there anything else you do being proactive for your own skin health aside from topical skin care?

Dr. Amoafo-Mensah: My skincare routine is based on the fundamentals – cleanser, moisturiser, SPF and extras. The first three are completely non-negotiable.

For the extras, I include a retinol, like I mentioned above, vitamin C serum and an exfoliant a few times a week. I also drink a lot of water and keep out of the sun as much as possible.
